This Cork deli will sell you an entire Raclette cheese to melt over everything

It’s the new fondue.
If you’ve never stared longingly at a video of a server scraping an oozing dollop of cheese right off a raclette and onto a waiting bowl of fries below, you’re not a true cheese addict.
Raclette is a Swiss tradition, but thanks to Instagram it was also one of the top food trends of 2019 and has since popped up in French eateries all over the globe.

Here in Cork, cheese connoisseurs have a raclette hook-up they like to keep to themselves so they can impress their lucky friends at dinner parties.
Now we’re busting that secret world right open for your dining pleasure; Iago, the Italian specialty grocery store on Princes Street supplies raclette in any size you wish – just pop in and talk to them about serving sizes and how many guests you’ll be feeding.

In the Alps, raclette cheese is melted on a special skillet over an open flame. Once the top layer of the cheese is gooey, it’s poured over a choice of tasty dishes, including potatoes, charcuterie, cornichons, and other vegetables.
To be honest, your imagination is the only thing that will limit you here so your vehicle could be as simple as a loaf of garlic bread or as wild as an entire fruit and veggie station.
You don’t need any fancy gadgets either; placing the cheese cut side down in a pan over a medium heat to melt it works just as well.
