This week’s weather will quickly go from sunshine to sleet

From sunny spells to flooding in the same day.
Met Éireann’s latest regional forecast for Munster suggests that this week’s weather will be all over the place.
Today (January 3rd) will be bright and breezy with both sunny spells and scattered showers, and reasonably mild temperatures of eight to ten degrees. There will be some rain throughout the night, when temperatures will drop to one degree.
According to Met Éireann: “Tomorrow, Tuesday, will be a predominately dry and sunny day… Noticeably colder than recent days with highest temperatures of 4 to 6 degrees.” The clear skies will continue into the night, though temperatures will likely drop as a low as one degree yet again.
Wednesday will be especially mixed. The day is expected to begin both with frost and long spells of sunshine. The day will be mostly dry, but this will deteriorate in the evening, with Met Éireann forecasting another burst of heavy rain that could cause localised flooding. Night-time temperatures will also reach as low minus two degrees.
The rain will continue into Thursday, with blustery showers expected throughout the day and the possibility of sleet and hail.
This should clear by Friday, which is expected to be a predominantly dry day, though the temperature will be a cool five degrees.
