This waterside Skibbereen shack gets glowing Airbnb reviews from guests

Ready to truly switch off?
At the Black Shack, the glow of moonlight on the water is the only thing likely to disturb your sleep. This off-grid Airbnb in Skibbereen gets rave reviews from previous and returning guests — and it’s designed for slowing down.
Run by hosts Andrew and Olivia, who live just 2km away with their young son Archie, the romantic tiny house sits right on the seafront. Guests have their own private jetty, with uninterrupted views across to Heir Island and The Beacon in Baltimore, stretching quietly into the distance.

No noise. No rush. Just West Cork, as it should be.
The doty dwelling consists of two cabins, one with your own private bathroom and a gas-powered shower with a view and a second cabin with a double bed, kitchenette and gas-fired stove.
A five-day cooler box with ice is provided to keep all your essentials (and booze) cold, while solar panels provide light and enough power to charge a mobile phone.
You can bring enough goodies and groceries to sustain you through your stay or hit the local fish shop for the fresh catch of the day to cook on the barbecue grill.
“Five star doesn’t begin to cover this Airbnb,” said previous guest Christine in her review. \

“The location is absolutely incredible, sitting right on the sea with a wooden pontoon to jump off for a swim. The house is set up beautifully and is so cosy and comfortable. We had barbecues for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.”
If you do fancy an excursion during your break, there’s a ferry to Heir island just five minutes walk away. Prices for the Black Shack start at €306 for two nights on Airbnb.
