Fancy taking high tea in the drawing room?
If you live for ladylike amusement, you’ll love this.
A boutique hotel in Limerick is hosting a Victorian Afternoon Tea, promising fans of the era a fun Sunday where corsets and countesses will be the order of the day.
It all happens on August 19th at No. 1 Pery Square. Guests will be invited to sit back and enjoy an afternoon of literature, history and fashion, starting when history buff Sharon Slater presents her talk ‘Limerick Victorians & Vice’, enlightening everyone to the many scandals of the day.
After a serving of Victorian-inspired afternoon tea delights, award-winning author, Nuala O’Connor will read from her new novel Becoming Belle – based on the true story of a Victorian dancer who becomes the Countess of Clancarty before comedian, Myles Breen takes on Oscar Wilde.
Finally it’s corsets et al as historical costumer and heritage expert, Melissa Shiels, presents a demo on ‘Dressing up for Tea’.
All attendees will receive a small Victorian-themed keepsake and you can book your ticket (€39) here.
