This is when Cork’s Christmas lights will be officially switched on for 2019

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…
And the Santa countdown begins in earnest on Sunday, November 17th, 2019 when Cork City’s Christmas lights will be officially switched on by Lord Mayor of Cork, Councillor John Sheehan.
The fun will begin at 6.30pm in town this year, when 60,000 lights are set to twinkling over the city centre.
Cork City Council will be hard at work in the coming weeks, hoisting more than 40 Christmas trees into place and decorating streets, villages and landmarks.
‘Glow – A Cork Christmas Celebration’ will return to the Bishop Lucey Park once again this year, with the famous Ferris wheel and festive market on the Grand Parade back for another four weekends in the run-up to Christmas.
Glow will take place on the following dates:
- Friday 29th November to Sunday 1st December
- Friday 6th December to Sunday 8th December
- Friday 13th December to Sunday 15th December
- Friday 20th December to Sunday, 22nd December
The Market will open from 12 noon to 8.30pm each day, while the entertainment in the park will start at 4.30pm, continuing until 8.30pm each day.
You can expect another outdoor party when the traders of North Main Street turn on their Christmas lights, usually within the first two weeks of November.
The Christmas crib at the Lough is generally one of the final landmarks to switch on their lights. Look out for details on this one in the first week of December.
