We never met a pizza topping we didn’t like.
That’s why we’re fully confident a Cork restaurant’s decision to top their St Patrick’s Day pizzas with shamrock is legit.
Oak Fire Pizza’s Princes Street and Gillabbey Street locations will both be sprinkling a special shamrock garnish on their pies for free this March 17th, 2021.
You can even add it to your Tom Durcan Spiced Beef Pizza for a double whammy of patriotism at dinner time.
“You can’t get much more patriotic than eating a bit of shamrock on St Patrick’s Day!” the Oak Fire crew announced on Instagram.
They’re also doing a bright green limited edition St. Patrick’s day Mint Aero cheesecake for dessert, so make sure you add a few of those to your order for the day that’s in it.

If you’re weirded out by the notion of consuming shamrock instead of wearing it, rest assured it’s a tradition that goes back hundreds of years.
In fact, the earliest record of people consuming shamrock comes from the botanist Carl von Linné. Mentioning the plant in his 1737 work Flora Lapponica, he wrote: “The Irish call it shamrock, which is purple field clover, and which they eat to make them speedy and of nimble strength.”
Worth a shot.
