Craving something new to dunk in your tea this weekend?
If a basic biscuit just isn’t going to cut it after a long week in lockdown, one Cork baker is getting ready to deliver boxes of pure joy to doorsteps all over Cork.
Good Fortune Cookies is a brand new cookie company doing a brisk business in dropping off freshly baked, oven-warm thick double chocolate, caramel, hazelnut, peanut and honeycomb cookies by the boxful.
The cookie company is run by Ballymaloe graduate Sarah Cremin, who came up with the idea after she finished her time at the cookery school in December.
“Once the course finished at Christmas, we were heading back into yet another lockdown. I made some edible gifts for friends and family and left them on doorsteps and gates, sometimes with little notes saying “hang in there” or “can’t wait to see you soon”.” Sarah told Yay Cork.
“I just loved the feeling of cheering someone up and who doesn’t like cookies? Good Fortune Cookies was born out of the idea of spreading joy with delicious cookies and little notes to make people smile.”
Staying true to the Ballymaloe ethos, Sarah only uses premium quality, ethically sourced ingredients; that means free-range local eggs, organic vanilla bean paste, Callebaut fairtrade chocolate and Irish butter and you’ll never find palm oil in her mouthwatering bakes.
How can I order?
It’s a simple concept; the Good Fortune Cookie boxes cost €15 (including delivery) and every box contains six cookies in three different flavours. All orders placed before Wednesday night are delivered on Friday.
You can place an order from anywhere in the world too: “We’ve had quite a few orders from the UK and Australia for those that can’t come home to their families and I’d have tears in my eyes writing the cards for those ones, it’s so tough for them.” said Sarah.
If you’ve got a special occasion coming up (pssst… Mother’s Day and Easter are just around the corner) Sarah has also introduced a special giant double chocolate cookie topped with chocolate buttercream, chocolate and raspberry meringue kisses and white chocolate and pistachio shards.

We’ve already got the kettle on in anticipation.
