Fancy a West Cork Bourbon Mint Julep? This Cork cocktail bar will deliver the goods

By Katie Mythen-Lynch March 7, 2021March 7, 2021

The evenings are getting a little brighter.

And if the spring sunshine has you craving a cocktail to sip on the deck of an evening, one of Cork’s best cocktail bars is delivering everything you need to shake up your favourite fancy drinks at home.

The crew at Monk Cocktail Bar at the Franciscan Well are launching a range of DIY cocktail kits this week and with Level 5 restrictions in place for another while, they’re an excellent way to mark a birthday or special occasion at home.

The MyMix Cocktail boxes contain everything from unique syrups and bitters to garnishes and mixers and will be available for home delivery from March 11th.

Each box is built around a base spirit, so whether you’re a gin lover or a whiskey nut, a vodka fan or tequila buff – you’ll find three recipes and enough ingredients to make 12 high-end cocktails in every kit, plus a simple video guide by Monk’s head mixologist, Eoin Lyne.

“Home cocktails have become extremely popular during Covid,” Eoin told Yay Cork.

“With MyMix, we feel that these fun DIY kits are a way for people to show off their inner mixology skills at home. Our monthly subscription service on the MyMix website gives customers the option of getting a new box of recipes and ingredients delivered every few weeks, so the creativity never ends!”

Kits cost €90 for the 12 cocktails, including delivery. Orders can be placed mymixcocktails.com, with discounts available for early birds on monthly subscription fees.

“Personally I like whiskey-based cocktails,” says Eoin, “So MyMix kit of choice would include a Chocolate Orange Stout Old Fashioned, a Caskmates IPA Whiskey Sour and a West Cork Bourbon Mint Julep. Like a proper night out, in.”

Sounds like a plan to us.
