This is a step in the right direction.
A Cork coffee shop has decided to stop offering single-use coffee shops to customers altogether in an effort to stop the flow of coffee cups, which cannot be recycled, into landfills.
Instead of the usual disposable coffee cup, customers at Duke’s Coffee Shop on Carey’s Lane in Cork City will be asked to pay €1 for a reusable ‘2GoCup’ as part of a deposit and return scheme.
On your first deposit, you get your own lid, which you keep with you. Return the cup for your €1 back at any time.
Each 2GoCup lasts a minimum of three years if it is used every single day, meaning millions of single-use cups can be saved from landfill by making the switch.

Announcing the decision on Twitter, Duke’s Coffee posted: “That’s it we’ve committed to NO MORE #singleuse cups! Once our current stock runs out we are @2GoCupIE all the way!”
