There’s a rare chance to take a peek inside this adorable miniature castle this weekend

Attention, history buffs (and the just-plain-curious).
To celebrate National Heritage Week 2025, a fascinating mini castle is opening up its doors to the public for one day only.
Anne’s Grove Miniature Castle in Castletownroche near Fermoy will be open on Sunday, August 24th from 10am to 4pm. Designed by the architect Benjamin Woodward, the “medieval castle in miniature” served as the Gothic gatelodge for the main Annes Grove estate.
Today, the miniature castle is a self-catering holiday rental managed by the Irish Landmark Trust.

It has been meticulously restored, with a single double bedroom and a cosy living space, complete with a wood-burning stove. Its secluded location, surrounded by mature beech trees and stonewalls, makes it a popular spot for a romantic getaway.
This is a free event offering a self-guided tour of this unique historical building so visitors can admire the charming details while exploring the conservation work.
“This is a heritage property and the stone spiral staircase may be unsuitable for those with mobility issues.” say the organisers.
“There is no parking within the property gates. Visitor parking is only allowed along the lanes to the property.”
Spaces are limited so book ahead via the registration link here.
