There’s a hip new deli about to open in Ballintemple

This looks very promising indeed.
If you live or work in Ballintemple, there’s about to be another lunch spot to add to your list.
A brand new takeaway deli is due to open in early May.
Basil Market and Deli will be whipping up tasty, wholesome grub to-go from their newly fitted counters in Ballintemple Village, Blackrock Road.
With coffee by Warbler & Wren, the artisan delicatessen will be stocked with cheeses, Italian goods, home cooked meats, salads, pestos, pates and wine.
Fresh breads will be provided by locally based Hassett’s Bakery.
The new venture is the brainchild of husband and wife team Carole Kendellen, a nutritionist, and Ballymaloe-trained Gareth Kendellen, who have a wealth of experience in hospitality, having previously run The Touchdown Tavern and Paddy the Farmers.
Adorably, the name Basil is not only inspired by the wholesome herb but also by their son’s names: Ben, Alex, Sam and Louis.
The interior is still being completed but we got our hands on some of the interior renderings and it looks stylish indeed…
Customers will be able to drop by and collect lunch to enjoy later or order something on the spot.
We’re already planning a coffee date.
