The weather is due to take a frosty turn this week

It might be April 1st but the forecast is no joke.
After a glorious weekend spent basking in the warm spring sunshine, Met Éireann is predicting a sharp temperature drop in Cork this week.
It looks like winter will return tonight with scattered showers “some possibly of hail, with a risk of sleet”.
Some snow showers may occur over mountains and overall it will be very cold, with minimum temperatures 0 to 4 Celsius, with a risk of frost.
According to the national forecaster, Tuesday will be a cold, blustery day, with a mix of sunny spells and showers:
“Many of them will be heavy and possibly of hail, with a risk of thundery downpours. Some wintry showers of sleet are possible also, especially over high ground, but possibly at lower levels also. There is a risk of snow over mountains. Maximum temperatures 6 to 8 Celsius, in moderate to fresh west to northwest winds, gusty in showers and strong along the west coast.”
We’ll just pop the barbecue back in the shed for now.
