The newly redeveloped Bishop Lucey Park will reopen this month

The hoarding is finally coming down.
And on November 14th, Cork City Council will officially unveil the results of a major redevelopment of Bishop Lucey Park, one of the city’s most iconic green spaces, which has been closed since December 2023.
The Lord Mayor of Cork Cllr. Fergal Dennehy and Cork City Council will host a ceremony to mark the official opening of the redeveloped park and the new pedestrian bridge at Lambley’s Lane on Friday, November 14th at 2pm.

One of the most transformative and ambitious public realm programmes ever undertaken in the city, the regeneration of the Grand Parade Quarter will see the popular city centre park renewed based on an award-winning architectural design by Hall Mc Knight Architects.
The plan was to open up the park to the wider city centre and improve access to the historic city wall. A new events pavilion and plaza have been added too, with better access and seating, and a new tower to mark the eastern entrance.
While there’ll be plenty of change to take in, some favourite features have been replaced, including the swan fountain by sculptor John Behan, which has been refurbished and reinstated.
