The Crawford is looking for participants to paint a new mural on Sullivan’s Quay

There’s going to be a new mural on Sullivan’s Quay.
And the Crawford College of Art and Design is looking for passionate and creative climate activists to paint it.
Last year, as part of the international day of action for Cop 26, Creativity & Change collaborated with the public to create the iconic ‘We Only Want the Earth’ climate action mural that appeared on the hoarding along Sullivan’s Quay.
Now, the college is looking to update the piece and is inviting 18-25-year-olds interested in becoming part of their ‘Youth Artivist Studio’ to help paint a new mural. The aim of the piece is to highlight the urgent need for climate action in the run-up to the United Nations Climate Change Conference taking place in Egypt this November.
“Our Youth Activist Studio kicks off on 13th November, with a street art day on Sullivan’s Quay. Come along to help us paint a new mural demanding climate action during the Cop27 conference,” said the college on Instagram.

You can email helen.okeeffe@mtu.ie to register your interest. And don’t worry, there’s no previous art experience required, just show up wearing your painting clothes.
The Youth Activist Studio will take place at Crawford College of Art and Design on Wednesdays from 5pm-7pm on November 22nd, 29th and December 6th, with another project in the Spring. It will be “a space for art-making and conversations around how we can use our creative powers to fight for the world we want to see”.
