Supervalu in Cobh offers wonderful gesture to customers in financial difficulty

Fair play.
While Christmas is a time of celebration for many, the pressures of the season often result in financial hardship a significant percentage of the population.
Garvey’s Supervalu in Cobh are seeking to reduce that burden somewhat through a new food package initiative that they are promoting on their social media channels. In an open letter to their customers, the supermarket wrote:
“We at Garvey’s Supervalu Cobh want to ensure you that we are here for you this Christmas. We understand that Christmas can be a difficult time of the year for many people in our community financially.
“If you’re finding it tough to make ends meet and need some help this Christmas, please drop us a message and our team can arrange for a simple discretionary Food / Christmas package to be dropped at your door. It will be entirely confidential. Please don’t hesitate to ask for help.”

The supermarket plays a major role in its community, and last night held a Christmas tree lighting where selection boxes and goodie bags were handed out to guests. Definitely the kind of thing we’d like to see more of from businesses this festive season.
