Santa visits are off, but now Cork parents can book an ELF to visit good girls and boys
Things will be a little different this Christmas.
With Santa visits and pantomimes postponed in line with Covid-19 restrictions, much of the traditional festive fun is off the table for 2020.
However, one creative Cork company has come up with a unique way to bring back some magic: Elf Express will send two real, live elves to your home anywhere in Cork to check whether your kids are on the naughty or nice list.
The brainchild of Sarah Mateos and Laura Higgins, the idea was launched on Instagram this week and bookings have been rolling in. In fact, the Elf Express already has plans to put more local elves on the payroll before the busy Christmas period.
“I started thinking about Christmas for my own six-year-old and how I could make it just as magical during the Covid-19 restrictions,” Sarah told Yay Cork.
“We have a few lovely elves already and will possibly hire more in the coming weeks. They’ll have info on the children and will interact with the kids while parents take their own photos.”
Here’s how it works: Your elf will arrive as scheduled and knock on the door (imagine the excitement) with a gift of reindeer food and candy canes, directly from Santa’s workshop and a special colouring-in project for children to complete and post back to the North Pole.
Armed with information on each child, they’ll chat on the doorstep (depending on the restrictions at the time).
All elf-and-safety measures will be adhered to.

Packages start at €30 for a five-minute visit with one child, rising to €60 for a 20-minute elf visit with up to five children and bookings are being taken throughout October ahead of the Christmas period.
To reserve your elf, email your name, address and the number of children in your household to elfexpresscork@gmail.com.
