Roller Disco, Rap and Rainbow Paint: There’s a full day of FREE fun for kids this Saturday

Brought to you by Cruinniú na nÓg.
It’s the type of news that makes parents very happy.
If your little ones have energy to burn, stories to tell, and creativity bursting out of them, Cruinniú na nÓg Cork City 2025 is the day you’ve been waiting for.
This Saturday, June 7th, more than 35 free creative events for kids and teens will be held across the city, inviting children of all ages to dance, play, sing and create at their own speed.
From theatre made by local teens to Trad, rap and beatboxing in a Shandon Park and a fabulous rollerskating disco, Cork kids will be treated to a day of pop-up art pods, circus picnics, storytelling and more.
And yes — it’s all free.

Made by kids, for kids, Cruinniú na nÓg (it means ‘gathering of youth’) isn’t a stage for grown-ups to perform at young people — it’s about letting them take the reins. From concept to creation, loads of what you’ll see on the day is built and led by Cork’s youth.
What’s happening?
Rock the Block
From 4pm to 8:30pm, St. Anne’s Park in Shandon turns into a full-on creative block party with Irish trad, hip hop, open mics, dance workshops, beatbox sessions and a finale performance by Hazey Haze.
Voices of Peace
Up in Elizabeth Fort on Barrack Street, kids of all ages can discover the magic of music with the Voices of Peace, an inspiring intercultural choir for children and young people.
Originally composed of children and young people of Ukrainian descent and recent arrivals to Ireland, the choir has now opened its doors to all, creating a rich tapestry of cultures and voices performing regularly at civic and cultural events throughout Cork City.
Youth Theatre Island
Four youth theatres from across the country take to the stage at The Everyman, followed by a taster workshop for any 12–18 year olds curious about stepping into the spotlight.
Circus Picnic
Circus Factory opens its doors on the day with free workshops, youth-led showcases and a circus film finale (yes, there’s popcorn!).

The RollerDisco Returns
From 7pm–9PM at Marina Park, you’ll find DJs, sparkles, figure skating demos, and a city-wide permission slip to roll and dance it out. Bring your skates.
Throughout the day, Cork kids can get to work with clay, chalk trails, zines, storytelling, songwriting, puppets, and mini museums, with oodles of unexpected joy at every turn.

“We want the city to come alive with young people’s creativity,” says Louise Tangney, Creative Communities Engagement Officer with Cork City Council’s Arts & Events Section.
“They’re not just taking part — they’re leading, creating, and inspiring all of us. This Saturday is their day to shine.”
