Ditching dairy? Going gluten free?
Whatever your reasons for seeking an alternative to cheese and processed chocolate treats, an upcoming workshop will set you up with some tasty recipes to add to the menu at home.
Little Raw Kitchen hosts ‘Nuts About Cheese and Chocolate Cake’ at Washington Street coffee shop Pink Moon on Tuesday, October 22nd, 2019.
A workshop and demonstration, the evening (6pm-8pm) will teach you the skills to create your own nut cheese and plant-based desserts.
So, er… what exactly is nut cheese?
Fermenting nut milk creates a soft, malleable cheese that makes a great cream cheese substitute. When the rest of the batch is aged, it creates a cheesy substitute as it ferments.
Emma, owner of Limerick-based Little Raw Kitchen, will be on hand to explain the process during a hands-on class and everyone will take home a recipe booklet too.
“This is a demonstration that will teach you the skills and knowledge to create your own nut cheese and plant-based desserts at home.” she says.
“The food we make is suitable for you if you are vegan, dairy free, health conscious, gluten free, if you want to cut out the refined sugar, or just love good food- the flavour is not sacrificed!”
All you need to recreate the recipes at home is a food processor and your own natural ingredients.
The recipes on the day will include:
- Macadamia feta
- Cashew garlic, lemon & herb cream cheese
- Fig and walnut savoury crackers
- Banoffee pie
- Triple layer chocolate cake
Bring an appetite and a take away container for leftovers. Call or text Emma on 087 377 2942 for more information or questions and book your ticket (€43.55) here.
