New Year’s Eve: 5 of the best supper boxes, treats and platters to pick up for a night at home

It’s been quite the year.
Whether you’re staying up late to welcome in 2021 or to make doubly sure that 2020 is finally over, if you don’t fancy cooking there’s a variety of tasty options for the final meal of a very difficult 12 months.

Here are five delicious options that are ideal for a cosy toast in front of the telly:
1. Afternoon tea to go
If it’s sweet treats and fancy savoury bites you’re after, the Montenotte Hotel is bringing back their Call & Collect Afternoon Tea from December 30th until January 3rd and every Friday, Saturday and Sunday in January.
Designed to lavishly treat two people, the carryout box is curated by the hotel’s new Executive Chef Tabrez Shaikh. It’s €55 per stand including takeaway tea and coffee with collections available from 12pm until 3pm.

2. A New Year’s Eve party for two
Over on the South Mall, Electric is packing up New Year’s Eve Party Boxes for collection on December 31st from 6pm-8pm. Each box of goodies serves two people and you can choose from an Asian-inspired meal, a Charcuterie selection or a Combo Box of crispy chicken wings, deep-fried brie, curried fish bites and beef croquettes with dips.

3. Bistro in a Box
To celebrate the return of the popular ‘Bistro In A Box’ at The Rochestown Park Hotel you can enjoy a complimentary bottle of red or white wine to toast the New Year when you spend €40 on ‘Bistro In A Box‘ from Thursday, December 31st until Saturday, January 2nd.
The full menu of classic mains and burgers is available, with a kids menu and plenty of lush desserts too.

4. A takeaway mezze feast
Cork International Hotel has created a sharing platter designed to be enjoyed with a glass of bubbly before the countdown. The menu features ham hock terrine, lambs liver and wild mushroom pate, traditional spiced beef served with pickles, spring rolls, chicken wings, goats cheese and BBQ spare ribs.

5. Spiced cider and a stroll
If you’re craving some fresh air ahead of New Year’s, swing by the Metropole Hotel’s Harley Street Cafe for hot drinks, baps and festive spiced cider. They’re open from 2pm-8pm daily.
