Met Éireann says good things are in store for Cork this weekend

It’s rather nice in Cork city this morning.
And with a largely dry and sunny day ahead (just a slight chance of a light shower) we could almost be forgiven for believing that summer has begun at last.
In fact, Met Éireann is predicting highs of 24C in Cork this weekend as that juicy little weather phenomenon known as the Azores high settles over our damp little island, hopefully helping temperatures to rise above the paltry levels witnessed in June.
And there’s more good news: high pressure is expected to dominate our weather next week too, with largely dry and warm conditions on the way.
We’ll take it.
“Saturday and Sunday will be dry with light winds and sunny spells. Temperatures will reach 22 to 24 degrees.” said a Met Éireann forecaster.
In the meantime, you can expect highest temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees today, Wednesday, a mild and humid night tonight, and a cloudy but warm Thursday and Friday to see out the week.
Hay fever sufferers have been warned that a “moderate to high” pollen risk is expected over the next few days, so no harm in stocking up on the antihistamines if you generally sniffle and sneeze your way through the summer.
