Meet Evie, an adorable lurcher puppy who just wants a forever sofa to chill on

January is known as ‘puppy season’ at DAWG.
This month is traditionally when the staff at the animal shelter experience a deluge of unwanted puppies, dumped and abandoned after Christmas.
The lucky ones find their way into the warm and welcoming foster homes of Dog Action Welfare Group volunteers, where they patiently await their forever homes.
One such pup is little Evie, an 11-week-old lurcher who is seeking out a laid-back human willing to share their sofa for long and luxurious naps.

“Evie the lurcher pup is looking for a home with another young playful dog.” the DAWG crew told us.
She doesn’t like to spend too long alone so she would be ideally suited to somebody who is retired or works from home.
“Lurcher pups are full of fun and mischief. Evie has plenty of canine and human company to keep her busy in her foster home and would love a similar forever home.”
If it’s an older dog you feel would be a better fit for your family, there’s another lurcher who might fit the bill.
“Bennie the lurcher is doing great in foster but it really is time for him to find his forever couch. It’s his favourite place in the world.” said a DAWG spokesperson.
“We brought Bennie in from the pound sometime before Christmas and he spent time in private kennels. He was very lucky to get into foster and is loving it.
“Bennie is a slob, housetrained, and just loves to chill. He is very good on the lead and perfect at meeting other dogs. He would be fine as the only dog also as he is quite independent.”
He does have one rule, however; no cats, please. He’s not a fan.
Here are three ways you can help:
1. Fostering: If you can commit to taking a dog into your home for a few weeks while Cork DAWG find it a forever home, fill out a fostering form here.
2. Adopt: Cork DAWG have more than 70 dogs already in their care – all of which deserve a loving home. Find out about adoption here.
3. Donate: Funds are as important as spaces, with over 70 dogs and puppies to look after, Cork DAWG’s vet bills are a constant challenge. Donate €4 by texting CDAWG to 50300. To donate a larger amount, visit the donations page here.
