These lovely painted dogs are popping up in spots all over the city this week

Cork is about to become a city of tails.
This week, 50 life-size dog sculptures are appearing around the city for a very good cause.
The City of Tails art trail runs until August 28th, with the sculptures taking over various locations across Cork as part of celebrations marking 50 years of Irish Guide Dogs.
Created in partnership with MTU, each of the 50 dogs has its own unique design and story. And there’s plenty of Cork creativity behind them, with the sculptures designed by clients, volunteers, businesses, schools, community groups and professional artists.
Can you find all 50?
The idea is to get people out exploring Cork and tracking down the sculptures using the official City of Tails trail map.
There’s even a little incentive for younger visitors – children can enter for the chance to win a hamper of prizes.
One sculpture is particularly special, featuring the signatures of a host of Irish and Cork sporting and entertainment names, including Roy Keane, Jack Crowley, Shane Casey, Doireann Garrihy and Caoimhin Kelleher, alongside Sonia O’Sullivan, Jimmy Barry Murphy, John Spillane and Cork Camogie star Amy O’Connor.
You may even spot some of the sculptures further afield, including at Iarnród Éireann’s Heuston Station, and if you’re flying out this week, you can meet Clover, Matcha, Jimmy and Corky at Cork Airport.
The trail is also raising funds for Irish Guide Dogs, with visitors able to donate at each sculpture location to support the organisation’s work.
So whether you’re looking for a reason to get the kids out for a walk, fancy seeing Cork from a different perspective or simply really like enormous dogs, this one is worth checking out.
You’ll find the official map over here.
