Live near the Docklands? Keep an eye on the vast walls of the R&H Building this weekend

It’s another socially-distant celebration.
But Cork City Council is doing its level best to ensure that there’s still plenty of patriotic fun to enjoy during this year’s St Patrick’s Festival, which runs until Wednesday, March 17th.
Anyone living within 5km of the R&H Hall Building on Kennedy Quay in Cork’s Docklands will enjoy a stunning display of words projected onto the walls each evening during the festival from 7pm-11pm.
Inspired by the festival theme of ‘Meitheal’, the projection will feature the phrase “Ar scáth a chéile a mhaireann na daoine” in Irish and “In the shelter of each other, we live” in English.
Elsewhere in the city, the festival has co-ordinated a huge range of buildings and other structures to ‘go green’.
Over 40 iconic Cork buildings and public spaces will be lit up with an emerald glow by night, including Blarney Castle, St Anne’s Shandon, The Shakey Bridge and The Red Abbey, as well as Cork City Fire Service, Garda Síochána at Anglesea St., and Cork University Maternity Hospital.
“We hope that everyone will share these wonderful projections through social media with all their connections across the globe to shine a light on this special St. Patricks Day to bring some light and hope to all,” said Adrienne Rodgers, Director, Community, Culture & Placemaking Directorate, Cork City Council.
