Libraries and parks to remain closed on Friday morning amid ‘dangerous’ weather warning

Stay indoors.
That’s the advice from Cork City Council this evening as the county braces for the arrival of Storm Eunice overnight.
Members of the public are advised to stay at home for the duration of the Red Wind Warning as Met Éireann has warned there will be a period of “severe and potentially damaging winds” in Cork City and County between 3am and 8am on Friday, February 18th.
A further Orange weather warning is in place for Cork between 8am and 11am on Friday also with heavy rain and strong winds expected throughout.
“Cork City Council public services such as offices, parks, multi-storey car parks at Paul St and North Main Street, civic amenity sites and libraries will not open to the public until the later time of 10am tomorrow, Friday, to ensure the safety of service users and staff.” said a Council spokesperson.
“Our Severe Weather Team continue to monitor the situation.”
Cork City Council’s Operations crews will be on the ground from 8am to assess and deal with any damage or obstruction caused by the storm.
