Looking for a new crafting obsession?
Needle punch (aka punch needle) is the trick to creating gorgeous textured wall hangings, cushions and decorations worthy of the trendiest Etsy shop – all from the comfort of your sofa.
Now you can learn the basics from the experts right here in Cork in the beautiful surroundings of Nano Nagle Place on Douglas Street; creatives Catherine Keher (perdozendesign.ie) and Joanne Condon (kylelane.ie) will be teaching a one-day workshop in the fun and addictive craft of punch needling on Saturday, June 8th, 2019.
Guests on the day will get an in-depth knowledge on how to get started, learn about the best fabrics to use and how to stretch and prepare your fabric before you start working on it.
Other skills will include creating the perfect design and transferring templates onto fabric. Everyone will create two separate pieces, one using a timber frame and the other with an embroidery hoop.
All materials, lunch, tea and coffee are included and no experience is required (tickets are €120 here)- you’ll even take home your own punch needle kit and an instructional booklet.
The best bit is that the supplies you need are cheap and widely available so it’s easy to get started and carry on yourself once the workshop is over.
As far as crafting home decor goes, it’s also fast; you can rock out a finished piece over a weekend.
Finished needle punch creations make a brilliant statement piece to hang on the wall or gift to friends and family. In fact, you’ll probably have a waiting list once everyone sees your beautiful textured creations.
