“Surprise, surprise!”

Popular Cork venue The Kino, which had announced its closure in February over rent problems, has announced its surprise reopening on Instagram.

In a statement issued yesterday, the Instagram page for the Washington Street venue wrote: “Surprise Surprise – The Kino has reopened with a new crew and management! Come on in and say hello to the new team who will be serving @corkcoffeeroasters all week long!”

The venue had previously been operated by organisers The Good Room, who most recently have turned their hands to Magic Nights by the Lee, a series of open-air concerts in Cork.

“We have so much in store over the coming months and we are thrilled to celebrate this amazing space with the people of Cork once more,” the statement went on to say.

“Did we mention it’s got a makeover inside? Come check out the new seating and colourful new additions to the wall!”

While much about the future of the venue remains under wraps, it’s great to see another cultural space reopening in Cork.
