Jackie Lennox’s famous chipper ‘sorry to announce price increases’ across the menu

The cost of living is increasing.
And now it’s finally hit us where it hurts; in the chipper.
Jackie Lennox’s famous Bandon Road takeaway has announced price increases across the menu, with a large bag of their delicious chips now €4.30.
Management posted a notice to customers explaining the reasons behind the price hike, which they tried to avoid for as long as possible.
“We are sorry to announce price increases as of the 1st of September.” read the small sign on display at the till.

“Over the last six months we have absorbed a lot of the price increases from our suppliers ourselves without passing them on to customers, but this has become unsustainable for the business.
“We appreciate that this is a tough period for all customers and we greatly appreciate your continued support through these difficult times.”
Having celebrated 70 years in business last year, they’ve weathered worse and fans have been rowing in to support the iconic Cork chipper.
“I’ll be a fan for life no matter the cost. I’ll go cold and walk everywhere before I go without Jackie Lennox’s.” tweeted superfan Simon Murdoch.
Simon O’Leary is on the same page, tweeting: “They could throw a bag, a Jackie and a potato pie to 50 quid and It would still be worth it. For the portion size it’s still always worth every penny.”
Couldn’t agree more.
