A food reviewer named this Cork City fish and chip shop ‘the best in Ireland’

He’s not wrong.
A UK food reviewer has named a Cork chipper’s fish and chips ‘the best in Ireland’ after just one visit.
The Food Review Club team, which has earned 1.36 million social media followers and subscribers through its reviews of takeaways, chippers, restaurants, pizzerias and food trucks all over Ireland, Scotland and the UK, recently found themselves on Leeside where head reviewer Matt Davies-Binge, was in the mood for the traditional weekend feast.
Locals suggests Catch of the Day on the Bandon Road in Cork City and the lads duly parked up outside for a takeaway meal al fresco, eaten from the car roof.
Their order? Cod and chips with a portion of house curry sauce; €15.70.

The first element of the meal to impress were the chips, which Matt pointed out were “crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle” and unevenly shaped, the irregular looking ones proving that they are hand cut.
“I’m telling you right now, I think I am holding the best looking portion of fish and chips we have ever seen.” said Matt, proudly displaying the contents of his blue Catch of the Day box.
Matt also praised the flaky texture of the fish and the crisp, flavourful batter, scoring the dish a 9.8 out of ten. Controversially, he then used the opportunity to throw some shade on Irish cuisine:
“This is the most British, English fish and chips I’ve had.” he said, between mouthfuls. “I think the standard in Ireland is terrible. ”
Right.
Suddenly craving a takeaway dinner? Catch of the day opens daily at 3pm on Bandon Road, Cork City. They also have locations at the New Bridge, Kinsale and Owenabue Carpark, Carrigaline.
