Corks pubs and restaurants to reopen for indoor hospitality from today

By Carl Kinsella July 26, 2021
Indoor

Will you be allowed indoors this week?

Over 3,000 pubs across Ireland today are set to reopen their doors and welcome customers back inside — as long as those customers are fully vaccinated or the children of fully vaccinated parents.

Several rules remain in place for venues that have reopened. Vaccination status must be checked for every adult who comes through the door, and staff must be on the door at all times. While there is no longer any Summer 2020-style restriction on the length of bookings, all venues must be closed by 11.30pm.

A last-minute rule change came into effect last night as well. Restaurants no longer need to take the details of every member of a booking for the purposes of test and trace, only the lead member.

“Tomorrow we will reopen at 4:30pm and continue for the weeks ahead doing 4:30pm to 11pm last orders. Looking forward to welcoming our friends and customers back for chats, slagging and hopefully some fun. Hopefully see you soon,” tweeted The Castle Inn, owned by Michael O’Donovan, Chairperson of the VFI.

Plenty of other pubs have been sharing photos from inside, or simply words of excitement, ahead of today’s big reopening.
