Here are three kid-friendly October events you should go to

TIP: Bookmark this page and make a note on the calendar.
Autumn is a busy season in Cork, with oodles of really cool family-friendly events (all free) about to kick off.
It’s all part of Urban October, supported and organised by Cork City Council and EcCoWeLL.
The idea is to showcase how well designed and managed public spaces can have a positive impact on people who live in, visit or work in the city.
Before the winter weather sets in, it’s a great time to spend an afternoon or two outdoors, sip hot chocolate and kick around in the autumn leaves.
Here are three brilliant events you’ll actually want to take your kids along to…
1. Chalk Design for Kids on Emmet Place
WHEN: Saturday October 6th (1pm- 3pm, weather permitting)
This outdoor workshop on Emmet Place in Cork City Centre invites kids of all ages to find their inner Da Vinci and create their own chalk drawings. All supplies will be provided by Cork City Council and the event is free of charge but booking is essential. NOW FULL.
2. Halloween Workshop
WHEN: Sunday October 14th (1pm – 3pm)
Children aged seven and up are invited to get ready for Hallowe’en by taking part in a creative workshop at St Peter’s, North Main Street. Facilitated by the ever-inventive Jessica Mason, the gang will be using willow and waste items to make decorations and lanterns. A maximum of 16 children are admitted per workshop so book a place by contacting Bernie Connolly on 083 146 8064 or emailing Bernadette@cef.ie.
3. Harvest fun in Montenotte
WHEN: Saturday, October 20th (1.30pm – 3.30pm)
With a choice of activities for the kids and great coffee for the parents, Beech Hill Garden Centre, Montenotte is the place to be during the Food Harvest Festival. Learn about the importance of green leafy vegetables in your diet, get expert advice on growing them and take home a free plant – this event is suitable for all ages and abilities, with children especially welcome.
The workshop takes place in the polytunnel, so it’s not weather dependent. The event is free but please register your interest by calling 021 464 3263 or emailing hamiltonf@cope-foundation.ie.
