Hen Do turned Zen Do: This Cork yogi hosts the ideal send-off for wild brides-to-be

By Katie Mythen-Lynch May 24, 2022May 18, 2022

Planning a hen party for a laid-back beach babe?

If inflatable willies and club-hopping aren’t your idea of fun, a new trend could inspire the perfect send-off for your boho bestie.

Cork yoga teacher Ciara Lily has introduced Wild Bride Gatherings in Garretstown, a chance to connect with nature and spend quality time with friends.

Groups gather on the sand to kick back barefoot and enjoy a yoga class, a beach sauna, a cold plunge in the sea and a nourishing brunch picnic – just the get-together to leave you glowing inside and out before the big day.

“There has been a massive rise in wellbeing-focused alternatives and I had a few requests to take my ‘Sunrise Special’ morning and adapt it to a hen party-style event,” Ciara told Yay Cork.

“That and the fact that my friends are currently planning my own hen really helped me to decide what kind of party I would appreciate – something that suits my lifestyle… a ‘hen do’ turned ‘zen do’. The Açaí bowls and coffee are supplied by The Bean and Berry, the sauna is by Wilder Wellness and I teach Yoga and organise the boho picnic.

“I always loved the idea of gathering my tribe, connecting with nature, and just spending quality time with my loved ones before the big day.”

That’s not to say that this sort of event can’t be matched with a weekend of partying.

“It might even be the perfect morning to compliment an evening of drinks and dancing. Yin and yang, because… balance.” laughs Ciara.

“These mornings are all about moving your bodies, eating well, and taking a seat in the heat and maybe even a dip in the sea. A chance to connect with nature and spend quality time with loved ones. A morning to escape on your own mini-retreat and celebrate your wild bride.”

Prices start from €35 per head (and you can bring an inflatable friend if you like). To find out more about booking a Wild Brides Hen Do, visit the website.
