Got an idea to make the city greener? Grants of up to €500 are available to bring it to life

Small additions can make a big impact.
If you’ve got an idea that could make the city a greener and more enjoyable place to live, Cork City Council wants to hear from you… and they may even provide the funding to make it a reality.
The Council is inviting applications from city centre-based businesses, institutions, local community-based groups and residents associations to its City Centre Placemaking Fund, which is open to those who want to be involved in ongoing work that contributes to the greening of the urban streets and encourages biodiversity in the city centre.
Funding of between €100 and €500 is available per grant, covering up to 70% of the total cost of the project.
“Cork City Centre is at an exciting phase, there’s a lot of new development underway right now and yet to come.” said Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr. Colm Kelleher.
“It’s important to ensure a sense of place is not lost, as it’s at the heart of creating a vibrant, living city centre. Over the years the City Council has been working with community groups and businesses to enhance their areas and there have been fantastic results that truly enhance the city-centre experience. This fund will build on the momentum behind this, making our city centre a greener and even more enjoyable place to live, work and relax in.”
