Have a Look: Some big ideas for Blackpool Village will be unveiled this weekend

Big plans are in the works for Blackpool.
Now Cork City Council—along with John McLaughlin Architects and the Blackpool Village Team—want locals to have their say.
They’re putting together a fresh vision for the heart of Blackpool Village, with ideas aimed at making the area better for everyone who lives, works, or spends time there—from residents and businesses to visitors and community groups.

To show what’s being planned, there’s a public drop-in event happening on Saturday, May 9th, from 11:30am to 2:30pm at Blackpool Community Centre (90 Great William O’Brien Street).
You can pop in anytime, check out the draft plans, and chat directly with the team behind the project.
The strategy has already been shaped by input from local community voices, and now they’re looking to hear from more people. Whether you’ve lived in Blackpool for years or just pass through, your feedback is welcome.

If you can’t make it on the day, you can still have your say—submissions will be open online through the Cork City Council Consultation Portal from Friday, May 8th to Friday, May 15th, 2026.
If you care about the future of Blackpool, this is a good chance to get involved.
