Getting married? You MIGHT be able to invite 100 guests by August – but there’s one catch

The Digital Covid Cert could make your wedding dreams come true.
Couples hoping to have up to 100 guests at their big day celebrations could be in luck as the Government considers a proposal to increase the permitted number of people by August.
As it stands, weddings can go ahead with up to 50 guests for the ceremony and reception. With indoor dining back on the cards for the fully vaccinated and Covid-recovered, the Cabinet will meet on Tuesday to discuss what’s next for Ireland’s struggling wedding industry.
Last week, Tánaiste Leo Varadkar advised couples planning to tie the knot next month to “operate on the basis” that the guest limit would be 50 people.
Now it seems there might be some wiggle room, provided you can expand your guest list and re-print your invitations in record time.
In the meantime, celebrity wedding planner Peter Kelly has called for antigen testing to be employed to help get the weddings industry back up and running safely.
“I am fully vaccinated and I have my travel passport but I can still get Covid.” Kelly tweeted.
I am fully vaccinated and I have my travel passport but I can still get Covid. The only way I am going to have safe weddings and events at this moment in time is antigen testing. Why has our health system not seen this for over a year!! Vaccination is not a total solution.
