Get to know the neighbours by helping to plan a fun feast on your street

Meals are better together.
Zoom and Facetime are handy for when you want to stay in touch, but even the most advanced app can’t make up for the simple pleasure of meeting people face to face.
Cue Street Feast. An idea conjured up over a decade ago to build community ties between neighbours, this heartwarming event is back again on Sunday, June 25th and it’s open to everyone on every street.
The idea is simple: whip up a dish or some scrumptious snacks and head over to the designated meeting spot – be it on the street, in a local car park, a leafy copse of trees, or a community centre- and enjoy a meal together.
“On June 25th, we’re inviting neighbours across Ireland to come together for a day of not-for-profit, all-for-fun neighbourly lunches – it’s about community, having the craic and sharing great food,” said the Street Feast team on Instagram.
“Whether it’s a picnic in the park, a barbecue on your street, or a potluck in your garden, every feast is unique and special because it’s YOURS.”

This year’s poster illustrates “the contributions that everyone can bring to the table, and the little wonderful bits of chaos that happen throughout the day” and with over 930 registered events in Ireland and over 151 in Cork County in 2022, there are plenty of opportunities to get cookin’ and be part of the fun.
