The public is invited to a special symposium presentation by the editors behind The Coastal Atlas of Ireland, the award-winning illustrated celebration and study of our coastline, this Saturday in University College Cork.
An examination of the coastline of the entire island of Ireland as a whole from physical, human and environmental perspectives, The Coastal Atlas of Ireland scooped the prestigious Best Irish Book of the Year 2021 at the An Post Book Awards.
The book’s editors Robert Devoy, Val Cummins, Barry Brunt, Darius Bartlett, and Sarah Kandrot will talk about its development while showing a series of stunning graphics, maps, and photographs from the Atlas.
The talk will also incorporate information and illustration of its newly developed Story Map work; an interactive text and graphics-based digital presentation of the Atlas.
Afterwards, the editors will be available as a panel to discuss the audience’s questions about the Coastal Atlas and on coastal issues in Ireland.
The symposium will take place this Saturday, May 28th from 10.30am to 1pm at the Boole 1 Lecture Theatre on UCC’s Main Campus.
Admission is free, but attendees are asked to register here.
