First Look: A brand new specialist Pilates Studio just opened in Cork city

Brought to you by Reform Pilates.
Looking for a new workout that will leave you lean and toned?
If your muscles turned to mush over the summer, Pilates is low-risk, low-intensity exercise that will help rebuild your core strength and improve your fitness level, no matter your age or abilities – and now there’s a convenient new location where you can try it this autumn.
Pilates guru Sally Walsh has moved her Reform Pilates studio from Carrigtwohill to the Monahan Road, taking over the space previously occupied by The Yoga Loft.
And there’s more exciting news; Sally, who has combined a 20-year passion with extensive knowledge of Pilates to create a thriving community of pilates lovers across the county, is now bringing Reformer Pilates to the Ballintemple and Blackrock areas.
Reformer Pilates takes the more well-known Mat Pilates to the next level by introducing a special piece of equipment called a reformer. Invented by Joseph Pilates, the father of the method, the reformer is a rectangular frame with weighted springs designed to add intensity to the exercises.
It can be used in many different positions for a challenging but comfortable workout. Clients that include fitness veterans, new mums, experienced runners, and those recovering from injury all see clear benefits with regular practice.
I’m new to Pilates. How do I get started?
The best way to start your Reformer Pilates journey is with a five-week Beginner’s Course.
“Some clients are nervous of trying something new,” Sally explains.
“Our Beginners course helps with all that and it’s already proving incredibly popular with early bookings. The classes are small, everyone’s at the same level and, as instructors, we’re able to give individual support. Once we explain the principles and core exercises, people start to enjoy Reformer and its benefits quite quickly.”
Improvers and Advancers courses
For those already confident with the core exercises, there’s an Improvers Reformer class on the schedule that aims to build on learned foundations, while those with a strong base and interest in challenging themselves further can join the Advanced Reformer options.

The Studio will also offer Barre Burn, a unique mix of toning and cardio activities that delivers a more intense session to those looking for something a little different.
“Pilates builds muscle without the pressure and intensity of a gym workout and is suitable for everyone because of that,” Sally adds. “
Those that practice regularly will see how effective Reformer Pilates is – and that’s our real focus at Reform Pilates: to have happy clients that come back time and time again.”
BOOK NOW: The five-week Beginners course is €80 and new members can sign up by emailing reformpilatescork@gmail.com or texting 087 9380484. Five-class packs are available for all other classes, with the latest timetable and bookings available at reformpilatescork.ie.
