Feel the burn with a Barre class at the Marina Market this weekend

It’s harder than it looks.
Sometimes it’s the simple exercises that can really humble you. And when you think of a full-body workout, you don’t normally picture pliés and pirouettes.
But alternative fitness classes such as ballet barre and Pilates are a fantastic way to shake off the cobwebs from long-forgotten muscle groups, increase mobility, build strength, and tone up, all through simple, isolated movements that engage every inch of your body.
This Sunday, barre instructor Emma Barry-Murphy is conducting a morning class at the Marina Market and inviting participants to join her and activate muscles you ‘never knew you had’.
“Barre is a form of exercise that allows you to build strength and muscle while enhancing your flexibility and mobility. It’s also great for working on your endurance, balance, and posture,” said Emma on Instagram.

It is known for its combination of ballet-inspired moves that incorporates elements of Pilates, dance, yoga, mobility and strength training. During a class, you can live out your prima ballerina dreams with a mixture of classical ballet moves such as pliés and battements, as well as our old buddies: lunges, squats, and static stretching.
The exercise focuses on a small range of movements but involves high reps, so you really start the feel the burn… just at the point where you get a little over-confident.
Barre with Emma takes place at the Marina Market on Sunday, June 26th from 10:30 am-11:30 am. Tickets are €8 per person excluding the service fee. You can book your spot from her website here.
