“It’s true when they say Cork is the best county.”
Engaged couple Zara-Louise Rea and Niall Walsh turned to social media yesterday in order to find the kind passer-by who ended up videoing the exact moment that they got engaged.
“We were doing the Wild Atlantic Way for the last 2 weeks and this happened at the last stop! This absolute legend was running by when he saw me taking a picture of my boyfriend and offered to take a picture of the both of us… don’t think he knew what he was getting himself in for.
“My boyfriend asked him if this was the last stop on the WAW, he said it was so he asked if he could go to the car and get the map that we had been circling the whole trip! We were taking pictures with the map when my boyfriend said take one like this, I turned around and he was on one knee!
“This absolute legend saw what was happening and switched to video at the perfect moment! Now we have these memories to cherish forever. We want to find him and thank him… so I ask the question, does anyone know this man?”
In typical Irish fashion, it took less than 12 hours for the man in question to be found through the Kinsale Notice Board page on Facebook. In fact, within minutes of the original post, video-taker Mark Barrett had been tagged in the comments.
The couple confirmed that Barrett had been found, adding that “It’s true when they say that Cork is the best county” and dubbing him an “absolute legend.” The video of the couple’s engagement can be seen here.
