Costa del Cork: Met Éireann says temps could now hit 28C this week

Get that sunscreen on, pronto.
Met Éireann’s latest weather forecast shows temperatures could be even hotter than expected, hitting a balmy 28C across Munster this week as Ireland’s mini-heatwave kicks into gear.
Today is warm, dry and sunny with temperatures climbing into the mid to high 20s in places. Any early mist or fog should clear quickly, although coastal spots could stay a bit hazy at times. Perfect weather for a beach walk, an iced coffee, or pretending we’re somewhere in southern Europe for the week.
Tonight stays mild and clear with temperatures only dropping to around 10 to 15 degrees, and Tuesday looks even warmer again, with plenty more sunshine and highs of 23 to 28 degrees.
Basically: factor 50, lots of water, and make the most of it while it lasts.
Warm & dry with long spells of sunshine☀️
While mist and fog patches will generally clear early on, some sea fog is possible through the day, especially along western and northern coasts🌫️

The sunshine sticks around through Wednesday before things turn a bit cloudier later in the week, with cooler temperatures and some rain expected by Thursday and into the bank holiday weekend.
“Current indications are for a return to more unsettled conditions for the long weekend, with some rain and showers forecast,” said a forecaster.
“Highest daytime temperatures falling back to the mid to high teens.”
