Cork’s Windmill Road street cinema is back… and this time we’re ALL invited

The story was enjoyed all over the world.
With good news harder to come by these days, the tale of a socially-distanced street cinema, organised with an FM radio and a borrowed projector on Cork’s Windmill Road, inspired locked-down folk from Cork to New York when it went viral last week.
Now the Windmill Road Picture Show is planning another screening… and this time they’re inviting the public to join in the fun online to raise money for Age Action Ireland.
On Wednesday, April 22nd, 2020, Windmill Road resident Scott Duggan, who projected classic movies onto an adjacent gable wall for his neighbours to enjoy amid the Covid-19 crisis, will be hosting a live watch party online on YouTube here.

“Next Wednesday at 9pm, weather dependent, we will be live-streaming a Windmill Road Picture show night exclusively for Age Action Ireland so everyone can participate in this lovely community event.” Scott said.
“We are hoping that people will donate what they can afford to Age Action Ireland.”
The popularity of the first screening resulted in a deluge of media enquiries, radio interviews, several TV features and news crews descending on the road. The events even popped up on the YouTube channel of Hollywood A-lister, actor John Kraskinski.
With any luck, the second instalment will be just as popular, allowing us all to come together (while staying apart) for Ireland’s older citizens.
