This is a lovely touch.
A new bar is opening this Friday on Bandon Road, with an attractive offer to treat old-age pensioners in the neighbourhood.
Taking over the address formerly occupied by The Sportsman bar at No. 141, new spot Rosie Maddison’s is an interesting blend of traditional and fancy that hopes to keep locals of all vintages popping in for a drink together.
As part of their Happy Pints deal, all OAPs will enjoy pints of stout at €4, lager at €4.30 and a lunchtime special of soup, a toastie and a pint of stout for €9 from Tuesday to Sunday, 12pm to 5pm.

Popular casual spot Gaia is the back garden area of Rosie Maddison’s, and now inside you’ll be able to quaff three glasses of Champagne for €30 from Thursday to Sunday.
The name is partly inspired by Mary Maddison, a storyteller, musician, artist and healer from Eyries in West Cork who would often stay out dancing at ceilís until 2am, even in her seventies, and one of the owner’s new little daughters, Rosie.
“We wanted to create something new for the street whilst also honouring the community aspect of the street amongst all our neighbours.” an insider told us.
“We have a Champagne bar and we will be stocking wines like Whispering Angel Rosé, but we’ll also have everyone’s favourite stouts and draft beers.”
Rosie Maddison’s opens on Friday, July 1st at 6pm.
