Cork’s newest open mic night promises a friendly welcome for first-time performers

Everyone’s got a story in them.
And if you’re looking for a Cork spot where you can share your own tales, songs, and poetry, a new open mic night could be just the platform.
The Liberty Bar on South Main Street is launching The Underground Loft, a new open storytelling and poetry night this Thursday, May 4th.
“We hope to get people from all walks of life in for an open and relaxed atmosphere, where they can contribute if they are up for it, and just enjoy the evening if not.” bar manager Stephen told us.
During an open mic night, performers sign up for a time slot and take turns on stage, usually playing a few songs or performing a short set. It’s a great opportunity for aspiring artists to gain experience, try out new material, and connect with like-minded individuals in their local community.

Open mic nights are popular among amateur performers, but they also attract professional artists who use them as a way to try out new material or simply have some fun. For the audience, they offer a chance to discover new talent and enjoy a night of entertainment in a laid-back atmosphere at The Liberty Bar every second Thursday.
“This is a safe and open place of creativity so come along for a great night of stories, poems, songs, and more,” added Stephen.
