It’s a rite of passage.
But just because Covid-19 restrictions have cancelled debs and grads celebrations all over the country this year, doesn’t mean graduating sixth-year students have to miss out entirely.
The Hope Foundation has teamed up with RedFM DJ Stevie G to celebrate the extraordinary Class of 2020 with a unique Virtual Graduation Ball on May 28th, 2020.
Sure, you probably won’t get the shift but at least your hangover won’t be half as bad as it could have been.
“We all know that the restrictions in place have severely impacted the young people of Ireland, especially the graduating sixth years.” said a Hope Foundation spokesperson.
“This is a time like no other, a real and unprecedented global crisis cutting into their young lives with real and frightening consequences.
“The Virtual Graduation Ball aims to bring togetherness, fun and HOPE for their bright futures, to this incredible group of sixth-year students. We want to reward them for the huge personal sacrifices they have made to keep the vulnerable members of our society and each other safe from Covid-19, with an evening of fun and dance.”
Stevie G will be broadcasting live from The River Lee Hotel using the streaming site Twitch. Word has it he will also be joined by some famous faces who will be dropping in to give shout outs on the night.
“All you have to do is get dressed up, join us, maybe Tik Tok it, go live on Instagram Stories or Zoom with your classmates, and celebrate your graduation with a very unique set of classmates!”
