CORK WEATHER: Frosty today with temperatures set to plunge as low as -5 tonight

It’s a chilly start to the week.
With a Status Yellow – Ice warning for Ireland in place until noon, Met Éireann is warning that icy stretches are likely on roads in Cork this morning and hazardous travelling conditions are expected.
Some patches of freezing fog are also possible along with a sharp frost that will clear slowly and may linger in places.
While Monday will be mainly dry with bright or sunny spells, highest temperatures will reach just 2 to 4 degrees with light northwest breezes in most parts of Munster.

And it looks like we’re in for a freezing night:
“Tonight will be very cold with a widespread severe frost, patches of mist and fog and icy stretches.” said a Met Éireann forecaster.
“Most areas will be dry. However, outbreaks of sleet or snow may develop in parts of Kerry and Cork. Lowest temperatures of -1 to -5 degrees.”
