Cork Weather: ‘Dull and damp’ for the bank holiday (but 25C by midweek)

It’s been unseasonably chilly.
But while the rest of the August bank holiday isn’t looking ideal in terms of the weather, Met Éireann says we can, at least expect an improvement in temperatures in the coming week.
Today will be bright with a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers in Cork, but while the showers will die out through the afternoon, with largely dry conditions developing, highest temperatures will remain between 17 and 20 degrees.
Tomorrow will be even cooler:
“Dull and damp on Bank Holiday Monday with rain and drizzle in the southwest spreading across the province during the morning and afternoon.” said a forecaster.
“Highest temperatures of 15 to 17 degrees in moderate, occasionally fresh, southerly winds.”
But there’s better news for the coming days, because while occasional rain and drizzle will continue in places this week, dry and sunny spells will be more frequent than recently, “becoming warmer as the week progresses, with temperatures reaching the low twenties at times.”
According to early predictions, Wednesday will bring temperatures of up to 24C, with Thursday promising balmy summer temperatures of around 25C.
Maybe August won’t be a total washout after all.
