Heading west today?
You might be best advised to hold off for a few hours; roads in the area are impassable after a night of heavy rain.
According to AA Roadwatch, the N71 is impassable approximately halfway between Leap and Rosscarbery at the local turn-off for Carrigfadda due to flooding, as well as in Rosscarbery itself.
This route affects townlands including Gortroe, Dromillihy, Cullane East and Cullane West.

The Rosscarbery/Glandore Rd (R597) is also impassable in places due to flooding, with motorists advised to use an alternative route this morning.
In the city there are reports of flooding on Sunday’s Well Road and there is no right turn at the bottom of Shanakiel hill. Emergency services are diverting traffic towards the North Mall.
There are also reports of flooding on the North Ring Road between Ballyvolane and Mayfield, on Watercourse Road in Blackpool near the Garda station, along Model Farm Road and between the Bishopstown Bar and CUH.
Motorists have been advised to exercise extreme caution on approach.
