ChoiceCuts and Stevie G curated this free exhibition celebrating hip-hop and jazz

Planning your Jazz Weekend strolls?
The 45th Guinness Cork Jazz Festival is now in full swing, with a tasty little exhibition opening today at St Peter’s on North Main Street.
The ‘WeGotTheJazz presents Evolution’ exhibition, which has been curated by ChoiceCuts and Stevie G, celebrates the union of hip-hop and jazz as part of the worldwide acknowledgment of hip-hop’s 50th anniversary.
Free for all ages, it includes a thought-provoking exhibition, vinyl love displays, talks, interviews, workshops, DJ sets, breakdance, jam, and more.
“This is the music of our youth that shaped many of us forever,” said Stevie G.
I’ve been working on this with @ChoiceCuts for the last few weeks & I’m really excited that it’s now becoming a reality! The reality is this is the music which has shaped our lives and we are presenting something very special at @StPetersCork for the @corkjazzfest festival. pic.twitter.com/1K8AY8dVp1

“Generations of us fell in love with jazz through hip-hop sample culture, and we have been buying these jazz records forever too. We’ve been very lucky in Cork to have a jazz festival that is now in its 45th year, and we’ve hosted many great hip-hop and jazz acts in that time.

“We will be displaying record covers signed by many of these acts, who have now passed on (Guru/McCoy Tyner/Sharon Jones etc). Mark Murphy from ChoiceCuts and the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival Director and I have helped bring many of these great artists to Ireland and we are in a unique position to tell some of the stories.
“You gotta hear Blue Note to dig Def Jam.”
