This local artist has created a cool geometric print of Cork city

It’s like lookin’ at a stained glass window.
Local designer and illustrator Jason O’Gorman has reimagined cartography with his latest creation – a geometric map of Cork City.
A real love letter to his city, the contemporary artwork by Jason (also known as JOG on the art scene) is also spot-on when it comes to geographical precision.
Take a closer look and you’ll recognise streets, parks, laneways, and iconic landmarks like The Lough, the pond in Fitzgerald’s Park, and The Quad at UCC.

Jason’s fascination with maps led him on the creative journey to craft a colourful and intricately detailed map of Cork City.
“I’ve always had a fascination with maps and wanted to create an artistic map to celebrate that place we call home,” he said.
According to JOG, the artwork was inspired by a moment of sunshine filtering through a stained glass window earlier this year. His attention was grabbed by the geometric shards of glass which radiated pinks, purples, greens, and blues.
“I just loved that explosion of warm welcoming sunshine through the window,” he explained. “It reminded me of Cork and gave me the inspiration to create this artistic map of Cork.”
The artist himself is thrilled with the finished piece and can’t wait to hang it in his own home to add a splash of sunshine.
Now, you don’t have to envy his décor choices; you can bring this burst of colour to your space too. The print, priced €50 and measuring 35 x 35cm, is available from Jason’s website here.
