An incredible story.
Gardaí in Cork used a defibrillator provided by the Cork Lions Club to resuscitate a man whose heart had stopped beating on Oliver Plunkett Street on Saturday.
A statement issued by the Cork City Centre Defibrillator Project confirmed: “Glad to report that our AED at Penneys was successfully used last night to resuscitate an individual whose heart had stopped. Thanks to the Gardai who accessed the AED and brought the person back – the person was then taken to hospital by ambulance.
“The guard then alerted Cork Lions about the AED use and the pads were replaced shortly after.
“This is the reason why Cork Lions Club, with the publics support, have fundraised to put these AEDs in place (currently 14), for such an eventuality.”
